Event Brief:
Enjoy a relaxing and social walking weekend in the heart of The Snowdonia National Park. Staying in a luxury hostel in Capel Curig this adults only weekend will offer a variety of walks in the local area to suit all walk levels and abilities. On completion of Saturdays day walks we will return to a stunning luxury hostel for a well deserved evening meal and a social night in front of a roaring log fire.
Bedrooms at Plas CurigSunday will see us embark on a leisurely walk before we have the chance to souvenir shop in Betws-y-Coed and enjoy a pub lunch (not included) before returning home.
Walk Level:
Beginners: These events are, on average, under 7 miles and very easy to navigate along paths and tracks. There could be small obstacles such as gates and stiles and the route could involve crossing open farmland. However the terrain should be easy under foot with trainers or walking boots (good condition and good tread) being suitable. Please note that if you wear trainers they are not likely to be waterproof and the chances are you will have wet feet by the end of the walk.
Intermediate: Although more challenging than our beginners walks these walks are suitable for most people. We will be covering a distance of between 7 to 10 miles using well marked routes and footpaths. Typically we will be crossing fields, open moor land and the ground maybe slippery under foot and muddy. We will have to negotiate stiles and small obstructions all of which are achievable with care. Sturdy suitable footwear is highly recommended for this walk, if in doubt about your footwear please contact the LargeOutdoors office for more advice.
Difficult: With distances of between 6 to 15 miles these walks are difficult due to the terrain and type of ground we will be covering. With occasional scrambles and rarely on footpaths you will likely be walking across open moorland, through heather and scrub. These walks are often at heights in excess of 750m where the weather can change quickly. On these walks walking boots are essential along with suitable mountain clothing. If you'd like to discuss clothing or any concerns you might have please contact the LargeOutdoors office.
Please note that the weather can affect the terrain under foot and it is essential that you check the weather forecast on the day and wear appropriate clothing. We recommend that you check out a specific mountain weather service such The Met Office, Mountain Weather Forecast.
