Event Description:
We will be enjoying a gentle 8 mile circular walk whilst we climb Moel Siabod in Snowdonia.
Moel Siabod is a mountain in Snowdonia, North Wales, which sits isolated above the villages of Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig. At 872m it is the highest peak in the Moelwynion mountain range. The UK National Mountain Centre, Plas-y-Brenin, is located at the foot of Moel Siabod. From the top of the mountain, it is reputedly possible to see 13 of the 14 highest peaks in Wales on a clear day without turning one's head. The words Moel Siabod translate from Welsh as Scabby Hill.
Walk Level:
Intermediate: Although more challenging than our beginners walks these walks are suitable for most people. We will be covering a distance of between 7 to 10 miles using well marked routes and footpaths. Typically we will be crossing fields, open moor land and the ground maybe slippery under foot and muddy. We will have to negotiate stiles and small obstructions all of which are achievable with care. Sturdy suitable footwear is highly recommended for this walk, if in doubt about your footwear please contact the LargeOutdoors office for more advice.
Please note that the weather can affect the terrain under foot and it is essential that you check the weather forecast on the day and wear appropriate clothing. We recommend that you check out a specific mountain weather service such The Met Office, Mountain Weather Forecast.

Kit Lists:
Knowing what kit to have with you is essential for having a safe trip with LargeOutdoors. With this in mind we have compiled some kit lists to offer you some help and advice on what to pack.
If you are new to LargeOutdoors and outdoor pursuits in general please do not feel that you have to go out and purchase all of the kit on the list. You would be better off attending some events and gaining the experience and talking to other members about what kind of kit you should purchase. Then slowly purchase the kit that suits your preferred event/s, skills, body and budget.
As a guide we have listed compulsory equipment that your leader will insist that you have before you continue with the activity below. However you should always attempt to bring all items with you including warm clothes, hats and gloves etc.
Compulsory Kit: In addition to your personal kit you will need to carry a survival bag and a whistle on this walk. These are compulsory, if you do not have either of these items with you, we will be unable to allow you to continue on the walk. They can be purchased as part of the registration process below and we will bring them to the event for you. After the event they are yours to take them home for your own personal use.
