Event Brief:

Large Outdoors heads to Scotland for the weekend with the aim being to climb the UK’s highest Peak, Ben Nevis which stands at 1343m. On the Saturday we will be offering a fully guided day walk up Ben Nevis, followed by the chance to celebrate on Saturday night. Sunday morning we will offer a short walk although many of your may wish to start on the return journey home.

We will have exclusive use of our hostel over this weekend ensuring it is only Large Outdoors members on site, with a welcome buffet on Friday night, breakfast a three course meal Saturday night there will be plenty of chances for you to mingle with the other challengers.

Are Dogs Allowed? Unfortuntely dogs are not allowed in the accommodation. However, they are allowed on the walk.

Knowing what kit to have with you is essential for having a safe trip with Large Outdoors.  With this in mind we have compiled some kit lists to offer you some help and advice on what to pack.

Food and Drinks:

The majority of our locations are remote and far from local shops, the below information is provided as a guide to what food and drink you should think about bringing with you.

Welcome Night Buffet: As part of the first night we will be hosting a buffet and ask that everyone aims to bring two items for this.  LargeOutdoors will provide a mixture of pasta and potato salads along with bread and soft drinks.  There are cooking facilities at the location if your buffet item requires heating.

Hot Breakfast: We will provide a hot breakfast on the Saturday to ensure you have a hot meal before we head out into the hills.  There will be the options of toast, cereal, yoghurts and fresh fruit.  Sundays breakfast will be a selection of cerals, toast, fruit and yoghurts.  You are welcome to bring anything else you may enjoy for breakfast.

Packed Lunch: For each day walk you will need to supply your own packed lunch.  Please also remember to bring water and fluids for the walk.

Snacks: We will have cakes and biscuits available along with fresh fruit throughout the weekend, however please feel free to bring any additional snacks you would like.

Drinks: There will be complimentary tea, coffee and squash provided however you may wish to bring other drinks for the weekend. You are welcome to bring alcoholic drinks for both nights if you so wish.

Sat Nav – Postcode is PH49 4HX however this covers a wide area and will leave you 1 mile away – best to follow the directions below.

By Car/Bike

From Crianlarich and the south come through Glencoe on the A82 and take the right hand turn signposted “Glencoe Village”, “The Clachaig Inn” and “Glencoe Independent Hostel”. You will now be on an old singletrack road, continue on this past the Clachaig Inn and for a further mile, on the left.

From FortWilliamand the north take the left hand junction signposted “Kinlochleven and Glencoe”, then take the immediate right into Glencoe Village. Continue past the Nisa shop and over the hump backed bridge across the river for another mile along a single track road, we are on the right.

Lifts:
If you are looking to attend an event but are not able to reach the location then please contact the LargeOutdoors office as we maybe able to help you arrange a lift. Please remember to offer to pay a contribution towards petrol even if your driver is too polite to ask.
