In one day you can be high on the dark rock of the Cuillin mountains, barely a plant in sight amidst the rock, the sheer walls of the surrounding peaks a vast airy reminder of the labyrinth of routes into these peaks. Then that afternoon you can be strolling on a sandy beach, dipping your feet in the warm water and watching for seals in the bay.
