Halloween - Wharfedale - 28th - 30th October 2011
Barden Bunk House was our home for a themed weekend away. Sitting in the grounds right next to Barden Tower..I have to admit it looked the part! Our creepy crew were all up for a weekend of socialising, welcoming new folk and meeting old friends! Friday evenings nighttime amble gave us a great look at an often illusive star speckled sky. Wharfedale was really stunning...with its' vallied landscape, river Wharf, statuesque bridges and of course Bolton Abbey. We started off along the banks of the river Wharf. Our day walk took us though an Autumnal Strid woodland with beautiful turning leaves. We strolled on through The valley of Desolation leading to our high point at Simons' Seat before heading back! Sunday had a more gentle start after the night before!...with a walk along both banks of the Wharf, we lunched en-route and took in the imposing ruins of Bolton Abbey before heading our separate ways. If you would like to join us walking on a weekend away please visit our weekends away page in our event diary for a full list of our events. -
