A lovely poem from a lady who attended the Christmas trip!

Christmas in Snowdonia 2018

We (mostly) came on Saturday

We started introductions

The welcome meal and alcohol

The next day walk instructions

We’d settled in and found our rooms

In ones and twos and fours

We chatted, drank, chatted, drank

And then we drank some more

The weather on that first foray

Was rather wet and foggy

Some were happy, some were not

But all were pretty soggy!

A hearty meal soon put us right

We went off out for dinner

We ordered food, we ordered drinks

Not getting any thinner!

Next day some travelled up a mountain

Views fantastic, knees quite sore

And others had a super walk

And all agreed they wanted more (mulled wine, that is…)

Christmas Day dawned wet and dull

Most people stayed in bed

But one small group climbed Snowdon

Cos they’re funny in the head (saw diddley squat – zero visibility)

The others had a super walk

A waterfall and castle

And home to gifts from Santa

WOW a most fantastic parcel! (Thank you Large Outdoors!)

And some were not so keen on hills

And some were always popping pills

And most had weary poorly knees

And ‘Pass me the Prosecco Please’

And lots of knitting, lots of games

And finally getting people’s names

And making friends and making lunch

And thinking ‘We’re a happy bunch’

And lots of laughs and aching limbs

And alcohol aplenty

And cheese to sink a battleship

A Christmas meal for twenty

That Christmas dinner, what a feast!

That Alex, what a geezer

Turkey, sprouts, the whole shebang

The peas? still in the freezer…  (oops)

Boxing Day a coastal walk

While one or two went scrambling

Rebecca took them to the clouds

The rest of us went ambling… (to the pub)

And then for one last dinner out

And back to base for pud

And now to thank our Alex

Cos he’s really been that good

He cooked our food, he served up drinks

He’s been a super guide

The pigs in blankets, oven-cooked

The bacon he has fried

He’s been so friendly, calm and witty

(merits more than a hapless ditty!)

Sorted problems, drove the van

He really is a superman (minus the cape)

So well done Alex for our break

We really had a ball

You truly did a smashing job

so thank you from us all…
