Hello, World!

How do we grade our walks?

Five days to take on some of the Lake District’s bigger peaks

Hit the Lake District’s fells on this five-day, non-residential week of small group, guided walking.

Expanding on and extending our popular Lake District Day Walk Package, these walks will take you higher and deeper into the fells, helping you bag some of the area’s famous Wainwright summits.

As this walks package is non-residential, you’ll sort out your own accommodation and join your guide each morning in Ambleside to head out for a full day’s hiking.

Suggested Itinerary

You’ll meet your guide in Ambleside at 9am each day for orientation and kit check before heading out into the fells.

Because we’ve got five full days and there are so many brilliant routes to choose from in the Lake District, we’ll decide the exact route each day to suit the weather forecast and what the group would like to achieve. We’ll aim to cover between 10 and 16 miles each day.

Possible routes include:

  • The Fairfield Horseshoe – a spectacular loop that will see us bag eight Wainwrights such as High Pike, Heron Pike and Dove Crag.

  • The Langdale Pikes – a grand day out where we could bag at least five Wainwrights such as Pike of Stickle, Pavey Ark and Thunacar Knott

  • Castle Crag – a mini mountain but still a gem of a Wainwright which is ideal if the weather keeps us off the bigger fells.

After the walk each day, and time to get changed and re-charged, we’ll meet up for an evening meal together somewhere local before heading back to our various lodgings.

Why walk with a guide?

Walking with a guide is an enjoyable, inspiring experience that helps you get the most out of your adventures.

Tackling mountains isn’t something many of us do often, so we always recommend doing so with an experienced, qualified guide.

Why?

Well, our guides are expert navigators with in-depth knowledge of the routes. They understand the weather conditions and can decide the safest course of action should the weather change. Our guides are first-aid certified and know how to handle unexpected emergency situations.

Our guides will pace the walk, helping you travel at a comfortable pace while providing encouragement. And what’s more, the guides on your walks will know lots about the area, sharing fascinating information and answering your questions.
