Sociable adventures & exploring weekends with Large Outdoors…

Being in some of the most beautifully surroundings in the British Isles can make you smile.

Being there in the company of like-minded people can make that smile even broader.

Knowing you’ve got to that spot by walking through lovely surroundings makes you positively beam.

It could be that you’ve always fancied walking the best bits of Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland or perhaps you’ve looked longingly at photos of quiet idyllic spots in the Lake District and thought I want to do some scenic strolling in those surroundings.

Well this is where we come in. Large Outdoors is about putting the sociability into exploring our fantastic country by organising walking weekend breaks where we do the nitty gritty stuff – route finding, guiding, accommodation and meal planning – leaving you to enjoy the experience.

The great thing is that the people who gravitate towards our weekend trips will invariably have a knack for striking up new friendships.

Therefore there’s usually a lovely camaraderie in the group right from the start, whether it’s making cups of tea for each other, handing round the Jelly Babies during a walk or simply sitting in companionable silence as you absorb the beautiful views.

We tailor our walks to suit every level of experience – from gentle strolls right up to full-on hiking challenges. And we also build in enough downtime for relaxation whether that translates into devouring another slice of cake in a café, having a pint of local beer in a pub or simply reading a good book with a glass of wine in-hand.

For some weekends we also combine walking with other pursuits such as stargazing in Kielder Forest or yoga, wild swimming or stand up paddle boarding in the peaceful foothills of Snowdonia.
