Explore the Forest of Dean & Wye Valley
Straddling the border between England and Wales, the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are a lovely combination of wooded hills, winding rivers, historic towns and quiet countryside.
The River Wye winds through a landscape of steep-sided valleys and ancient woodland, creating some excellent walking routes and viewpoints.
We'll be based in Monmouth, a historic market town at the meeting of the Rivers Wye and Monnow. It's a convenient base for exploring the area, with plenty of places to eat and enjoy an evening together.
Our weekend combines two different walking areas, giving you a good introduction to this part of the country without having to organise the routes or transport yourself.

Our walk takes us through a mixture of woodland trails, riverside paths and open countryside, with some lovely views across the River Wye.
One of the highlights is Symonds Yat Rock, where the river curves around the wooded valley below. We'll take our time enjoying the scenery and stop for refreshments where possible.
