Fancy having a go at sea kayaking but never been in a kayak before? This is the course for you.

Enjoy two full days of paddling along the Anglesey coast with expert local instructors and the comfort of a cosy guest house to return to each evening. This trip is ideal for anyone who fancies giving sea kayaking a go or simply wants to spend a couple of days exploring the coast from a different perspective.

You’ll be part of a small group, with everything arranged for you – from equipment to instruction, meals, and transport to the kayaking locations. After your time on the water, relax by the open fire in the guest house lounge or join the group for a drink at a local pub.

There’s no pressure to perform or master skills – it’s about getting out onto the water, having a paddle, and enjoying the journey.

Suggested Itinerary

  • You’re welcome to arrive at the guest house from 17:00. Your Large Outdoors host will be there to greet you and get you settled in before dinner is served around 20:00. The guest house offers a warm, comfortable space to relax – whether that’s curling up by the fire in the lounge or heading to the nearby pub for a chat with your fellow paddlers. This evening is all about settling in and getting to know the group.

  • After a relaxed breakfast, we’ll head out to meet our qualified sea kayaking instructor. All your equipment will be provided, and you’ll be given a full briefing before we head to the coast.

The exact location will be chosen based on the weather and sea conditions, but the aim is to get everyone confidently on the water and enjoying their first paddling session. You’ll learn how to handle the kayak in calm coastal waters, with guidance and support throughout.

We’ll take a break for lunch – often enjoying a picnic on a quiet beach or grassy spot – before heading back onto the water for an afternoon coastal journey. You might find yourself paddling past rocky headlands, spotting seabirds, or drifting through sea caves if conditions allow.

By late afternoon we’ll return to the guest house. After a hot shower and a cuppa, there’s time to relax before a sociable dinner and a chance to chat about the day’s adventures.

  • After breakfast and preparing a packed lunch, we’ll check out of the guest house.

Today is all about building on your first day’s experience with another journey along the coast. The instructor will tailor the route to suit the conditions and the group’s confidence – whether that’s exploring new stretches of coastline or returning to a favourite spot to see it in different conditions.

As before, we’ll pause for lunch and take plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. There’s a good chance of spotting seals or other wildlife, and we’ll keep things relaxed and sociable throughout.

We aim to wrap up the day by around 17:00, giving you time to head off after a proper weekend of sea air, paddling, and a fresh sense of adventure.

  • The first designated National Park in Wales, Snowdonia includes Wales’ highest mountain, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), and an array of other peaks. Beyond the mountains, there are valleys, sandy estuaries, glacial lakes, forests and miles of walking trails.

Bounded by the Rivers Conwy and Dovey in the east and south, the view to the north and west stretches over the sea where, on a clear day, you can see the Llyn Peninsula, Cardigan Bay and even Ireland. Nestled among the mountains, you’ll find the history of the area in the form of sheep farming, forestry, and slate mining, and settlements dating back thousands of years.
