Well done to all the walkers from JDRF, as they raise over £40,000, summiting Snowdon (Yr Wydffa).

JDRF, the world’s leading type 1 diabetes charity saw its biggest ever hiking team summit Snowdon (Yr Wydffa) raising more than £40,000.

On an autumnal September 23rd over 120 JDRF supporters gathered in the car park of the National Slate Museum, ready to take on a once in a lifetime challenge.  From across the UK, the team came together with their walking boots tied and smiles beaming, nothing was going to get in the way of this wonderful group. Everyone had their own connections and stories as to why they were taking on this incredible challenge for JDRF and everyone with type 1 diabetes. Assisted by guides from Large Outdoors, the team followed the Llanberis path to the summit making great memories.

The group’s ambiance

Spitting into smaller walk groups, each led by a fantastically knowledgeable guide provided by Large Outdoors, the groups morale remained high throughout, despite the brutal ever-changing weather conditions. The patience of the guides, mixed with the tenacity of JDRF supporters was a perfect balance that led to all participants having an incredible day.

Supporters have gone on to say that the event was “really well organised”, “it was great” and that they “loved it”. One supporter has said that Philippa, a leading guide, “was a godsend”!

What’s the cause?

JDRF is the world’s leading type 1 diabetes charity that funds international research, that aims to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications. Each supporter has their own personal reasons as to why they took on Snowdon, but together this incredible team raised over £40,000 to help change the lives of everyone with type 1 diabetes – now and in the future.
