Suggested Itinerary

Here’s what we’ve got planned – all walks are fully guided and chosen to suit the winter season, giving you time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and chat along the way. We may adjust routes depending on the weather, but rest assured every day will offer great walking and good company.

Please note: Some walks may require a short drive to the starting point; participants usually car share where possible.

  • Arrive from 17:00 onwards and settle into your room at Dol Peris, our cosy guesthouse in the centre of Llanberis. Your host will be ready with a warm welcome and a cuppa by the log burner. Once everyone’s arrived, we’ll gather for dinner at 20:00 and chat through the plan for the coming days. There's no rush – the evening is all about getting to know each other and easing into the holiday pace.

  • 10 miles

We’ll begin our walking with a circular route from the village of Capel Curig, heading into the peaceful Gwydir Forest Park. Expect quiet trails beneath pine trees, views across the hills, and two serene lakes – Llyn Geirionydd and Llyn Crafnant – where we’ll pause for lunch and take in the wintry calm. There’s plenty to spot along the way, from old quarry remains to woodland birds, and we’ll return to Llanberis in time to warm up and relax before dinner.

  • Distance: 6 miles or optional 10 miles
Today we head to Beddgelert – one of Eryri’s most charming villages, nestled where two rivers meet. From here, we’ll follow the old Fisherman’s Path along the Glaslyn river, with a scenic climb offering views across the valley. Those looking for a longer adventure can continue into the Nantmor valley for an extended loop.
Back at the guesthouse, we’ll come together for a celebratory evening meal, followed by a relaxed New Year’s gathering. There’s no big party – just a welcoming atmosphere, good conversation, and a glass raised to the year ahead. Whether you stay up to see midnight or turn in early, it’s entirely your choice.

  • Distance: 7.5 miles
Enjoy a relaxed start to the morning with a slower breakfast and a chance for a bit of a lie-in. Later, we’ll head out on a lovely loop through the Gwydir Forest, beginning with views across Llyn y Sarnau before following forest tracks down into Betws-y-Coed – where we’ll stop for coffee and cake if you fancy. The walk continues past the famous Swallow Falls, a dramatic spot especially full of energy at this time of year. Expect a peaceful route with a few steady climbs and plenty of places to pause and take it all in.

  • Before we say goodbye, we’ll stretch our legs on a short, local walk from Llanberis – something gentle and scenic, with views across Llyn Padarn and a last chance to breathe in the fresh mountain air. We’ll aim to finish by around 13:00 so you can freshen up, grab lunch, and make your way home feeling refreshed and recharged.

  • Dol Peris offers two comfortable lounges with space to read, relax, or enjoy a chat over a drink. Each evening, we’ll run optional social activities such as quizzes and games – but nothing is compulsory.
Whether you’re up for some evening laughs or just want to enjoy the fire with a cuppa, it’s all about doing what makes you feel at ease.

  • Encompassing the mountains, valleys, woodlands and much of the North Wales coast, the Snowdonia National Park is one of the best hill-walking destinations in the country. Though well known for its most famous mountain, Snowdon, there are a huge number of other peaks, standing beside sandy river estuaries, acres of forest, and landscapes cloaked in myth and legend.

Walking on the miles of excellent trails, you’ll pass medieval castles, sites where King Arthur was rumoured to have fought, Roman forts, and the modern remains of the slate industry. Alongside all this, the area’s unique wildlife is yours to search out, before retiring to one of the many excellent pubs or cafes.
