Our Norfolk Coast Walking Break begins on Friday at:

Hotel check-in is available from 15:00.

We'll meet in the hotel bar from 18:15 for introductions and a relaxed chat about the weekend's walking plans, before enjoying dinner together.

Travelling by Train

King's Lynn railway station has regular connections from Cambridge and London King's Cross.

If you're travelling by train, you can take advantage of our complimentary station collection service.

Station Pickups

Friday – King's Lynn Railway Station, 18:00

We offer a complimentary collection from King's Lynn railway station at 18:00 on Friday.

Please request this when booking or contact the Large Outdoors office at least 48 hours before departure.

Sunday – Return to King's Lynn Railway Station

We'll provide a complimentary return transfer after Sunday's walk, aiming to arrive between 14:00 and 16:00.

Travelling by Car & Parking

Parking is available at Premier Inn King's Lynn.

Please register your vehicle details with hotel reception to avoid potential parking charges.

You can leave your car at the hotel during our organised walking days.

Transport During the Trip

Transport between the hotel and our walking locations along the Norfolk coast is included on both Saturday and Sunday.

We'll travel together in our Large Outdoors minibus, so there's no need to use your own vehicle during the weekend.

Ferries & Boat Transfers

No ferries or boat transfers are required for this holiday.

Departure & Return Travel

Our final guided walk takes place on Sunday around Snettisham Beach and RSPB Snettisham Nature Reserve.

Afterwards, we'll return to King's Lynn, aiming to finish between 14:00 and 16:00.

The exact time will depend on our walking pace, weather conditions and any stops for refreshments.

We recommend booking flexible onward travel arrangements, particularly if you're travelling by train.

Important Travel Information

This is one of our car-free walking breaks, making it easy to join us without bringing a vehicle.

Complimentary railway station transfers and transport to our walks are included. Travel to and from King's Lynn is not included.

Please remember that station collection must be arranged at least 48 hours before departure.

Our accommodation is a comfortable Premier Inn hotel, with en-suite bedrooms and breakfast included.

We'll stay at the same hotel for both nights, so there's no need to move accommodation during the weekend.

We offer a choice of shared and private hotel bedrooms, depending on your preference and availability.

If you're joining on your own, you can choose to share with another guest of the same sex or book a room for sole occupancy.

Twin Room – A private room for two guests booking together, with either two single beds or a double bed and a single bed.

Bathrooms

All bedrooms have their own en-suite bathroom.

Guests booking shared rooms will share the bathroom with their roommate.

All bedding and towels are provided by the hotel.

You'll just need to bring your own toiletries and personal items.

Breakfast

Breakfast is included on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

We'll enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore the Norfolk coast.

Packed Lunches

Packed lunches aren't included.

You'll need to bring or purchase lunch and walking snacks for both days.

We'll arrange opportunities to purchase food where practical, but we recommend carrying some snacks and a reusable water bottle throughout the walks.

Evening Meals

Evening meals aren't included in the weekend price.

On Friday, we'll plan to eat together at the hotel restaurant, making it easy for everyone to settle in after arriving.

On Saturday, we'll head out for a relaxed group dinner at a local pub or restaurant.

Meals and drinks are paid for individually, and you're welcome to make your own dining arrangements if you prefer.

Walking Grade

Leisurely

Our Norfolk Coast Walking Break is graded Leisurely, with two days of relaxed guided walking along beaches, coastal paths and nature reserves.

Norfolk's famously flat coastline makes this an enjoyable destination for walking, with very little climbing and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and wildlife.

Beach walking is a big part of this weekend, particularly around Holkham, where we'll enjoy stretches of beautiful open sand.

We'll walk at a friendly, sociable pace, with time for photographs, wildlife spotting and refreshments along the way.

Terrain & Conditions

Our walks follow a mixture of sandy beaches, coastal footpaths, flood banks, salt marsh paths and woodland trails.

Saturday's walk from Burnham Deepdale to Wells-next-the-Sea includes stretches of beach walking around Holkham, alongside flatter, firmer coastal paths and pine woodland.

Sunday's walk around Snettisham follows shoreline paths, flood banks and nature reserve trails.

Fitness & Experience

You don't need previous experience of long-distance walking, but you should be comfortable spending several hours on your feet and walking at a steady pace.

The lack of significant hills makes this a relatively accessible walking weekend, although the longer coastal sections and sandy beaches still require a reasonable level of walking fitness.

If you regularly enjoy countryside or coastal walks, this should be a suitable weekend for you.

Our guide will keep the group together, allowing time for breaks and enjoying the surroundings.

Walking Clothing & Footwear

Our Norfolk Coast Walking Break includes plenty of beach walking, coastal paths and nature reserve trails, so comfortable footwear and suitable clothing are important.

We recommend bringing:

• Comfortable walking boots or sturdy walking shoes with good grip.

• Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers.

• Comfortable walking trousers.

• Breathable walking tops and warm layers.

• Walking socks.

• A hat, gloves or sun protection, depending on the weather.

Good footwear is important, particularly for walking across soft sand, uneven coastal paths and potentially muddy sections.

What to Carry on Walks

You'll need a comfortable day rucksack with enough space for:

• Packed lunch and walking snacks.

• Plenty of drinking water in a reusable bottle.

• Waterproof clothing and an extra warm layer.

• Any personal medication you may need.

• Mobile phone.

• Payment card or some cash for refreshments.

• Sun cream and sunglasses when appropriate.

We'll have opportunities for refreshments during the weekend, but you should carry enough food and water for each walk.

Clothing for Accommodation

Bring comfortable casual clothing and footwear for relaxing at the hotel and joining the group for evening meals.

Bedding and towels are provided, so there's no need to bring these.

Trip-Specific Extras

Binoculars – Highly recommended! The Norfolk coast is a wonderful place for birdwatching, particularly around the salt marshes, Holkham and RSPB Snettisham.

Camera or Phone – From the vast sands of Holkham to the colourful beach huts at Wells-next-the-Sea, there are plenty of opportunities for photographs.

Windproof Layers – The coastline is exposed, and even a sunny day can feel surprisingly cool when the wind picks up.

Walking Poles – Optional, but useful if you appreciate extra stability when walking on soft sand or uneven coastal paths.

It's a great way to say hello to your fellow walkers, ask questions and get to know everyone before you arrive. Most of our guests join us on their own, so it's a nice way to break the ice.

A couple of days before departure, we'll send you a final reminder with your guide or host's name and contact number, along with any important last-minute information.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely! Most people joining Large Outdoors trips come on their own, so you'll be in good company.

Our walking weekends are designed to be friendly and sociable, with plenty of opportunities to get to know everyone during the walks and over evening meals.

Is this weekend suitable for my first Large Outdoors trip?

Yes! This is a lovely introduction to Large Outdoors, particularly if you enjoy coastal walking, wildlife and exploring new places.

With generally flat walking, comfortable hotel accommodation and a small group of no more than eight guests, it's an easy way to enjoy a weekend away.

Will we spend much time walking on beaches?

Yes! Beach walking is one of the highlights of this weekend.

Saturday's route includes the beautiful sands around Holkham, while Sunday's walk explores the shoreline around Snettisham.

Some sections may involve walking on softer sand, which can be more tiring than firm footpaths.

Will we see seals?

It's certainly possible! Seals can sometimes be spotted along the North Norfolk coast, particularly around the beaches and offshore waters.

However, sightings depend on the season, tides and where the animals happen to be, so we can't guarantee them.

Is this a good weekend for birdwatching?

Definitely. The North Norfolk coast is one of Britain's best areas for coastal birdlife.

We'll explore salt marshes, beaches and nature reserves where you may spot oystercatchers, curlews, redshanks and other wading birds.

You don't need any birdwatching experience, but binoculars are worth bringing if you have them.

Will we see the famous Snettisham bird spectacle?

RSPB Snettisham is known for its spectacular gatherings of wading birds, particularly around certain high tides.

We'll explore the reserve during Sunday's walk, but the large bird gatherings depend on the season and tide times, so they aren't guaranteed.

Can I join without a car?

Yes! This is one of our car-free walking breaks.

We offer complimentary collection from King's Lynn railway station on Friday and a return transfer on Sunday. Transport between the hotel and our walking locations is also included.

Can I join with a friend or partner?

Of course! Friends and couples are very welcome.

You can book a twin or double room together, subject to availability. If you're travelling alone, you can choose a same-sex shared room or a room for sole occupancy.

Can I skip one of the walks?

Yes, you're welcome to take a day off from walking if you'd prefer.

However, our transport is organised around the planned itinerary, so you'll generally need to make your own arrangements if you decide not to join a walk.

What happens if the weather is poor?

Our walks normally go ahead in typical British weather, including rain.

Your guide will assess the weather, tides and ground conditions and may adjust the route if necessary.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, we're unable to accommodate dogs on our guided walking weekends, other than assistance dogs by prior arrangement.
