Weekends & Short Breaks

Pembrokeshire Coast Walking Break – Coastal Paths & Sea Air

Join Large Outdoors for a relaxed and sociable three-night walking break on the Pembrokeshire coast, staying in a cosy cottage with sea views, shared meals, and a small group of like-minded people.

This is the sort of trip where you can arrive on your own and quickly feel part of things. Over the course of the long weekend, we’ll head out for fully guided coastal walks, spend time together over good food, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being beside the sea with a friendly group. Expect fresh air, brilliant coastline, relaxed evenings, and plenty of time to chat, laugh, and properly switch off.

Our cottage base gives this trip a more personal feel than a hotel stay. With a maximum group size of just 8, it’s ideal if you enjoy small-group trips where it’s easy to get to know people and settle into the weekend at your own pace.

This is also a car-free trip, with transport included during the break and easy access from Pembroke train station, making it a great option whether you drive or not.

Trip Overview

If you’re looking for a walking break that feels friendly, easy-going, and genuinely sociable, this Pembrokeshire weekend is a lovely one.

Based in a cosy cottage near the coast, this three-night break is all about enjoying good walks in good company. You won’t need to worry about route planning, driving between walks, or organising anything yourself — just arrive, settle in, and enjoy the weekend.

Over the next few days, we’ll head out to explore some of Pembrokeshire’s finest coastal scenery, from wide sandy beaches and dramatic cliff paths to tucked-away coves, sea views, historic sites, and charming little places to stop for refreshments. Back at the cottage, there’s time to relax, put the kettle on, chat about the day, and enjoy the slower pace that makes these weekends so enjoyable.

This trip is especially good for solo travellers, and many people who join us do come on their own. The small group size helps create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and by the end of the weekend people are usually swapping numbers, making plans, and already looking at what to book next.

The Walks

Over the course of the weekend, we’ll spend the next three days exploring different sections of the Pembrokeshire coast, with routes chosen to make the most of the weather, sea conditions, and group energy.

Walk options may include coastal favourites such as Freshwater West, Bosherston, Stackpole, Saint Govan’s Chapel, Barafundle Bay, Stackpole Quay, Manorbier, and potentially Tenby, depending on conditions and how the weekend unfolds.

You can expect a mix of cliff paths, beach sections, sea views, wildlife, fascinating local history, and a few well-earned café or refreshment stops along the way. Some routes offer a more rugged and open coastal feel, while others bring in quieter inland stretches, historic landmarks, pretty villages, and sheltered bays.

One day might see us walking out along the coast from Freshwater West, taking in dramatic sea views and remote-feeling shoreline. Another could include the beautiful Bosherston Lily Ponds, the cliffs near Saint Govan’s Chapel, or a stop near Barafundle Bay or Stackpole Quay. We may also spend time around Manorbier or Tenby, combining coast path walking with time to enjoy the atmosphere of the area itself.

As always with Large Outdoors, the exact plan stays flexible. That means we can choose the best walking options for the conditions and make sure the weekend feels enjoyable rather than rushed.

On the final day, we’ll round things off with a shorter walk, aiming to finish in the early afternoon, with time to grab a drink or bite to eat before heading home.

Time Together

This trip is about more than just the walking.

A big part of what makes this weekend special is the relaxed time in between the walks. Back at the cottage, there’s space to properly unwind — whether that’s putting your feet up in the cosy lounge beside the log burner, chatting over a cuppa, or, if the weather’s kind, sitting out on the benches at the front and making the most of the sea air.

All meals are included on this trip, so there’s no need to head back out in the evening unless you want to. Instead, each night gives the group a chance to sit down together, enjoy a good meal, share stories from the day, and settle into the easy rhythm of the weekend.

These quieter moments are often when people really get to know each other. There’s no pressure, no awkwardness, and no need to arrive knowing anyone — just a friendly group of people enjoying good walks, good company, and a proper break by the coast.

If you’d like a drink in the evening, you’re very welcome to bring your own alcohol to enjoy back at the cottage.

Arrival & First Evening

Arrive from 17:00 on Friday evening and settle into our cosy base near the coast.

Your Large Outdoors host will be there to welcome you, help everyone get settled in, and get the weekend off to a relaxed and sociable start. Once you’ve found your room and had a chance to arrive properly, there’ll be time for a cuppa, a chat, and to start getting to know the rest of the group.

Dinner will be served later that evening, giving everyone the chance to sit down together, relax, and chat through the weekend ahead.

For those travelling by train, we offer one collection from Pembroke Train Station at 16:15 on Friday, which must be booked in advance either during checkout or by contacting the office before the trip.

It’s a gentle and friendly start to the weekend, with no pressure to do anything other than arrive, settle in, and enjoy the evening.

Departure Day

After breakfast on the final morning, we’ll head out for a shorter walk before wrapping up the weekend in the early afternoon.

Where possible, we’ll aim to finish somewhere suitable for a final coffee, lunch, or quick wander before people begin their journeys home.

Depending on the final plan for the day, we may be able to drop participants at a local station such as Manorbier, Tenby, or Pembroke all of these stations are on the same line.

Car-Free Travel

This trip works really well as a car-free walking break.

We offer a pre-booked collection from Pembroke Train Station at 16:15 on Friday, making it easy to arrive by public transport and settle straight into the weekend.

During the trip, all transport for the walks is included, so once you’re with the group, there’s no need to worry about driving or logistics.

On the final day, we will drop participants back to either Pembroke or Tenby train station, depending on the plan for the day.

We recommend booking an open return ticket, as drop-off is likely to be between 14:00 and 17:00, depending on the length and location of the final walk.
