Guided Walking Holidays & Small Group Walking Trips UK
Large Outdoors runs sociable guided walking holidays and short breaks across the UK. From a weekend on the coast to a week exploring Scotland, we organise the accommodation, guided walking and practical details so you can concentrate on enjoying the trip.
Most people join Large Outdoors on their own. Our small-group trips are a straightforward way to explore new places with other people who enjoy walking, without needing to find somebody to travel with.
Why Walk with Large Outdoors?
Small, sociable groups – designed around enjoying the walking and spending time with the group.
Most people join solo – you won't be the odd one out if you're travelling on your own.
Experienced walking guides – your walks are planned and led throughout the trip.
Accommodation included – with single-room options available on many trips.
Car-free options – selected trips include station collection and transport during your stay.
Walking Holidays Across the UK
Our guided walking holidays take you to some of the UK's best areas for exploring on foot, including Scotland, the Lake District, Yorkshire, Wales, the South West and the coast.
We keep groups relatively small and offer different walking grades, so you can choose a trip that matches the kind of walking you enjoy.
Some holidays focus on mountain and upland walking, while others explore coast, countryside, islands and villages. Each trip page gives you the distances, ascent and walking grade before you book.
Walking Weekends & Short Breaks
You don't need a full week away to have a proper walking break.
Our two and three-night walking breaks combine guided days out with accommodation and time to relax with the group afterwards. They're a good option for a first Large Outdoors trip or simply a few days away.
We run weekends and midweek breaks throughout the year, including coastal walking, countryside, National Landscapes and lower-level routes.
Longer Guided Walking Holidays
For more time away, our walking holidays of four nights or longer allow us to explore an area properly.
These include trips to Scotland and its islands, longer-distance routes and walking holidays based in one location with different guided walks each day.
Depending on the holiday, transport, meals and additional activities may also be included. You'll find a clear list of what's included on every individual trip page.
Walking Holidays for Solo Travellers
You don't need a walking partner to book with Large Outdoors.
Most of our guests book on their own, so arriving solo is completely normal. You'll meet the rest of the group at the start of the trip and spend the following days walking and exploring together.
Some trips offer single rooms, while others also have shared accommodation. Room options and availability are clearly shown when you book.
Car-Free Walking Holidays
A growing number of our walking holidays and breaks can be reached without driving.
Where a trip is marked as car-free, we'll provide details of the railway station or meeting point and any collection we provide. Local transport needed as part of the organised itinerary is also included where stated.
What Walking Grade Should I Choose?
Not every Large Outdoors trip involves climbing mountains.
Our trips are graded Leisurely, Leisurely Plus, Active or Active Plus, helping you choose the right level of walking for you.
Every trip page also includes expected distances, ascent and terrain so you can see what the walking involves before booking.
