Explore the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from St Davids

This weekend is all about discovering one of Britain’s most striking pieces of coastline. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is known for rugged cliffs, quiet coves, Iron Age remains, Atlantic wildlife and open sea views that change with the tide and weather. Our walks stay under 10 miles and follow steady coastal paths with time to stop, enjoy the scenery, and soak in the area’s history.

We will explore classic sections around St Davids Head, the bays and cliffs south of the city, and one of Pembrokeshire’s most memorable circular routes near Solva and Caerfai Bay. Expect a relaxed pace, friendly company, and expert guidance throughout.

Suggested Itinerary

Here’s what we’ve planned for your car-free walking weekend (subject to change due to weather or logistics)

  • Arrive from 15:00 and settle into your room. We’ll meet in the bar at 18:00 for introductions and a relaxed start to the weekend.

Dinner this evening will be in the hotel, which keeps things simple for anyone arriving later. You won’t need to head back out or search for another venue — you can just join us when you’re ready and ease into the weekend at your own pace. It’s a friendly first night with time to chat, unwind, and look ahead to the coastal walking planned for the next two days.

  • Distance: 7–9 miles (11–14 km)

We start with a classic Pembrokeshire coastal loop from Whitesands Bay, one of the region’s best-known beaches and a great entry point to the coastline. From here we follow the Pembrokeshire Coast Path towards St Davids Head, taking in open sea views, craggy outcrops, hidden coves and a scattering of prehistoric remains including ancient field systems and burial sites.

The headland offers views across to Ramsey Island, an RSPB reserve known for seals, seabirds and occasional porpoise sightings. We follow the path back towards Whitesands and return to St Davids late afternoon.

This evening we’ll head into St Davids for dinner (not included), giving you the freedom to choose from several local restaurants and cafés.

  • Distance: 6–8 miles (10–12 km)

Today’s walk is a superb circuit linking the harbours, bays and cliffs south of St Davids. Starting at Porth Clais, a sheltered inlet with centuries of maritime history, we follow the coast towards St Nons, passing open sea views, rocky coves and colourful cliff formations.

We then continue to Caerfai Bay, known for its striking rock colours and wide sea views across St Brides Bay. After completing our loop, we return to St Davids with time for a café stop before the weekend concludes around lunchtime.

FAQ’s: Answers to our most common questions

Travel insurance: We recommend having insurance to cover, at a minimum: cancellation and curtailment, medical and emergency expenses (including repatriation), personal accident, and injury and death.

About our mileage ranges

We list distances as a 2-mile range because GPS watches, apps and route planners all show different results. Our mileage is based on OS Maps Explorer online, but in a group it’s normal for each person to record different figures. Listing a range gives a fairer picture of the day.
