Today’s walk explores the central section of Hadrian’s Wall, starting near The Sill. This is one of the hillier parts of the route, with regular ups and downs as the path follows the ridge. There’s plenty of time built into the day, allowing for a steady pace with stops along the way. The walk finishes back near The Sill, where there’s time to relax at the café.
-
The final day explores another section of the wall from Birdoswald Roman Fort. This area offers a slightly gentler feel underfoot, with more open landscapes. The route takes in sections of the wall before returning to Birdoswald, where there’s time to visit the fort and stop at the café for lunch. Entry to the fort is free for English Heritage members.
