Three Brand New Walking Adventures Now Available - From Norfolk's Big Skies to Autumn's Golden Colours
We're thrilled to announce three exciting new walking breaks that showcase some of England's most distinctive landscapes. Whether you're drawn to coastal wildlife, ancient history, or autumn's spectacular colours, these carefully crafted adventures offer something special for every walker.
A windmill in the Norfolk Broads
Norfolk Broads: Big Skies and Coastal Wildlife
For the first time, Large Outdoors is venturing into the Norfolk Broads National Park - one of the UK's most unique landscapes. This two-night, hotel-based break combines the tranquil waterways of the Broads with dramatic coastal scenery.
Highlights include walking through wide marshlands where marsh harriers soar overhead, exploring coastal paths with opportunities to spot grey seals hauling up on the beaches near Horsey, and discovering the peaceful ruins of St Benet's Abbey. The landscape here is unlike anywhere else in the UK - shaped by centuries of flooding and reed cutting, creating a network of rivers, broads, and fens under huge, ever-changing skies.
Based at Premier Inn Norwich East, this car-free experience includes station collection, making it perfectly accessible for those travelling by train. With a maximum group size of just 8 people, you'll enjoy an intimate, sociable experience exploring this remarkable wetland landscape.
The view towards the Yorkshire Dales from the Cleveland way
North York Moors: Ancient Ruins and Moorland Majesty
Our new Thirsk and Rievaulx break uncovers the quieter corners of the North York Moors, combining dramatic moorland landscapes with rich historical heritage. Based in the traditional market town of Thirsk, this two-night adventure takes you deep into some of Yorkshire's most atmospheric countryside.
The highlight is undoubtedly Rievaulx Abbey - once one of England's wealthiest Cistercian monasteries, now a hauntingly beautiful ruin nestled in a peaceful wooded valley. Your walks will take you along sections of the Cleveland Way, through ancient woodlands, and onto high moorland ridges with sweeping views across the Vale of Mowbray.
From the hamlet of Hawnby, you'll experience the true diversity of the Moors - climbing from wooded valleys onto open heather moorland where the views stretch for miles. The charming town of Helmsley provides the perfect ending, with its independent shops and traditional market town atmosphere.
Hurst Castle and Spit on the edge of the New Forest
New Forest: Autumn's Golden Spectacle
Our longest new adventure is a three-night autumn celebration in the New Forest and South Coast. This break perfectly captures the magic of autumn, when ancient oak and beech woods glow in gold and amber, and the crisp air makes every walk feel invigorating.
The itinerary combines the best of forest and coast. At Bolderwood Arboretum, you'll walk through spectacular autumn colours with excellent chances of spotting fallow deer at the feeding platform. The Lymington-Keyhaven Marshes offer completely different scenery - saltmarshes and tidal lagoons alive with autumn birdlife.
One of the most dramatic walks follows Hurst Spit, a striking shingle bank stretching into the Solent, leading to the historic Hurst Castle. The final day explores Hengistbury Head, a prominent headland with views across Christchurch Harbour to the Isle of Wight.
Based at Premier Inn Lymington with free collection from New Milton Station, this car-free break includes all local transport, making it effortless to enjoy these diverse landscapes.
Join a small group adventure from Large Outdoors, here our walkers are exploring Whitby in the North York Moors.
What Makes These Adventures Special
All three breaks share Large Outdoors' signature approach to outdoor adventures - small groups (maximum 8-12 people), expert local guides, and a focus on making the experience sociable and welcoming. Each is designed as a car-free experience with station collections, removing the stress of driving and parking while making the adventures accessible to more people.
The carefully planned itineraries balance walking with cultural discoveries, wildlife watching, and time to simply enjoy good company over meals and drinks. Whether you're a solo traveller looking to meet like-minded people or friends wanting to explore new areas together, these breaks offer the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation.
